Helping The Community
The Rotary Club of Hanover purchased 40 gallons of hand sanitizer and donated them to the Hanover & District Hospital, The Village Retirement Residence in Hanover, Hanover Care Centre, Durham’s South Bruce Grey Health Centre and Rockwood Terrace long-term care facility in Durham. Thank you to our front-line workers and thank you to Hanover Rotarians Joan & Randy Hafermehl for driving to Stratford to pick up the sanitizer and making the deliveries

To my Rotarian Friends, and Friends of Rotary
I’m so proud to be a Rotarian. So proud to be connected to such a positive force for good in the world. So proud to be the president of the Rotary Club of Hanover.
I have always wanted to help others. Connecting with Rotary has enabled me to do just that. Think about it for a moment: we are a network of 1.2 million friends, neighbors, business associates and civic leaders who come together to create positive, lasting change in our communities, to Serve Humanity through Rotary – locally, regionally. and internationally.
While much of our charitable giving now is handled by our foundation, the club itself also supports a number of local and regional projects.
- This will be our last payment to fulfill our commitment of $25,000 to the Hanover Regional Aquatic Centre
- This year will be out first Poor Boys/Girls Luncheon to raise money for Grey/Bruce Hospice and Chapman House.
- We currently are supporting the New Generations Service Exchange Program by hosting a young lady from Madrid Spain for 3 months.
- We have ran our 4th annual “Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes” march and raised over $8,000 this past Father’s Day weekend.
- Each Year we give 2 deserving students going on to further education a $1,000 Bursary.
There are other projects as well … but you get the point. We are doing an awful lot of good – locally, regionally, and internationally – and we are having an awful lot of fun doing it. Thanks to ALL of you.
It’s an honor to serve as president of the Rotary Club of Hanover. I am proud to have worked with all of you to help others in such a big way this year. I look forward to doing even more during the year ahead.
We are suspending Rotary TV Bingo because it requires 3-4 Rotarians to meet for 1 ½ hours each broadcast in relatively close proximity to each other in the broadcast studios, a member of the Rotary Club must visit each of the many retailers to do ticket exchange, receive money & drop off winners cheques and finally, viewers must visit a location to purchase tickets. Based on above Rotary Bingo is promoting contact and movement through the community for a non-essential need and this is not something we should take lightly at this time. We all need to do our part to flatten the curve. #covid19.
Easter Egg Hunt
Due to Covid-19, the Hanover Rotary Club’s Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 11th, 2020 has been cancelled. We are very disappointed that it can’t take place this year but we cannot take any chances with anyone’s health. We hope to see you at other Rotary events as the summer progresses and we look forward to the 2021 Easter egg hunt.
